Zig Zag

The Zig Zag is a new club in Paris. It’s located on rue Marbeuf. Formerly called Pavillon Champs Elysées, the managers of the Showcase, a very famous club based just under the Alexandre III’s bridge, have bought up this club. After several months of work and a total transformation, the Zig Zag is one of the most prestigious new addresses in Paris. Indeed, between the Champs Elysées and the Avenue Montaigne, there are 1000 m2 to dance on, and the club can accommodate more than 1200 people. This is one of the biggest clubs in Paris.

The difference with other clubs is that since the opening, the line-up is fabulous: Breakbot (a French producer and a DJ who has signed with Ed Banger Records), Busy P (a French DJ, recording artist, record label owner, and artist manager who managed Daft Punk from 1996 to 2008). Yes, French DJ’s are very popular in Zig Zag’s parties. However, DJ’s from all around the world mix in this club. This is one of the reason why this club has been a huge success since its opening.

If you want to test as soon as possible this new club, you can go this weekend and enjoy the sounds of Klangkarussel on Friday, the 28th of November. The pre-paid tickets are 15 euros and 20 euros if you buy them on site. The address is 32 rue Marbeuf in the 8th arrondissement of Paris. You can get there by subway, by the Champs Elysées, or Franklin Roosevelt stations. You don’t need to get dressed too classy, but have a good attitude.

A suit is not a suit without a tie

Nowadays it is not shocking anymore to come to the office without a tie unless you work in a bank. But a Gentleman 2.0 would never leave the house without. This mandatory accessory is one of the only things that a man can wear with his suit and that can be a real mirror of himself. Which doesn’t mean that you are allowed to wear a tie with piano keys on it just because you like your grand piano or your still stuck in the 80s.

My advice is Arès. You can’t do something wrong with that company. It is a good example for ties and bow ties that are high quality products, without being astronomically expensive. Sure you can spend 200€ for one tie, but does this make any sense? No.

Basically your tie needs to fit with your whole outfit. That means from the bottom to the top, so from the hat to the shoes. Three elements are to be considered to exclude any embarrassing mistakes, which you can also check out on http://www.ares.com.

First: The shape

Big knots and width ties are out. Keep it smart and simple like for example mister Hugh Jackman.

Second: The colour and pattern

Stay decent, nothings against a red one but as a good gentleman you know that every colour has its own message. For long time, black was reserved for funerals but today you can wear it whenever you like. But don’t forget to change. Blue is for example less conservative and younger.
Don’t freak out with the patterns as I mention in the introduction, piano keys are strictly forbidden. Here you can be conservative. Allower-prints, stripes, paisley or the timeless unicolor are safe values. 

Third: The Quality

Silk, silk and silk. Nothing is more embarrassing than a tie made of Polyester. Believe me, every human being can make the difference on the first view. It is better to invest in 3 or 5 good quality ties made out of natural fibre, than having 20 made of plastic. Here again, Arès delivers only silk ties.

James Bond Advices

Who wants to be like James Bond ?

Like his James Bond Girl, this hero also has his James Bond Watches, Ares. Since 20 years now, James always wore that watch. In fact, it’s not a typical one, modified by his team; it often helped him to get out of traps or bad situations.

As we all know, James Bond is THE Gentleman by excellence. We, as gentleman 2.0 should follow him in his way of life. Having really nice tuxedos, a nice Aston Martin (of course it can be difficult to follow Bond on this point) and really nice girls, frequent nice and chic parties… Actually, let’s stay on how to wear an Ares watch. We all know that these time pieces are very expensive, but most Gentleman won’t show off to everybody. Purist will directly recognize it, and thanks to this you will easily speak about watches with these people.

In fact, if we wear a casual outfit, like blue jeans and a shirt, it will be really easy to wear your Ares. You may let it discreetly appear. You can also do the same when you wear a tuxido, put your Ares under your shirt and let the metal appear a little. Thanks to this you will have real gentleman behavior, you won’t appear like a “nouveau riche” in front of other gentlemen.

Where to eat out in Paris

Last week, after a long visit in Pompidou center : the kind of visit which makes you realy hungry, I decided to eat something different than my traditional student sandwich : I checked my smartphone, looked for an original and smal budget restaurant and found this burger workshop : Big Fernand.

I first thought Big Fernand was kind of a boring restaurant like Quick or Mc Donald’s : a place where you eat something without taste as quick as possible.

But the comments were good, so why not ? When you go to Big Fernand, you first see this old workshop, like in a western film. Then you come in and, at this point, you’re totally conquered by the atmosphere : people are smiling, servers are dynamic and will become your “new old friends”.

Big Fernand is dynamic, you cannot be bored there.

But let’s speak about the food : are the burgers really different from those of the fast foods? YES, they are quickly prepared and taste better than any burger from Mc Donald’s. You can choose your meat (beef, chicken, calf), your cheese (Savoie/Auvergne) and the vegetables.These are all high-quality products, fresh and tasty.

When you mix this products and the “know how” of Big Fernand and it’s atmosphere, the result is a great lunch that you can eat quickly in a nice environment.

Autumn and winter collection

The gentleman 2.0 is modern in his attitude but also in his choice of garment, he’s aware of the trends of each season. The gentleman 2.0 team has therefore selected the top ten trends for Autumn/Winter 2013-14, from the designers presented at the fashion weeks of Milan, Paris and London.

This year (2014), we’ll celebrate the 100 anniversary of the trench-coat. Invented by Thomas Burberry in 1914 for the British army during WW1. This coat has become an essential garment in men’s wardrobe. The 100th anniversary of the trench coat makes this one really trendy at this moment, besides it is ideal for this sort of mild weather .
For the colors, this year the designers have revolutionized the head-to-toe look (tone on tone) in suits, especially with gray. We have seen a lot of models dressed up entirely in this color on the catwalks. We advise the gentlemen 2.0 who wants to try this trend to vary the tones of gray to contrast with the suit. A tone on tone without a contrast is in many cases considered as a fault of taste, which must be avoided.
Fuchsia and burgundy colors are also in the spotlight this season, presented or in a head-to-toe style, or in a sporty way mixed with a gray tone. Like we said before, we don’t recommend the head-to-toe style, whereas the mix of gray and “burgundy” as presented by Giorgio Armani is to be worn with pride.
For the trousers, the A/W 2013 collection has something really bold for chinos with color such as blood orange, rust, burgundy, eggplant, tangerine or mustard yellow. In fact, almost all colors are in orange and red tones. If you like to wear bright and bold colors on your trousers, these are the trendy colors. If not, a blue or a camel chino is timeless, like a blue jean for a sporty mood.
Last but not least, the old roll-neck sweater has made its come-back for this season, to be worn under a leather jacket, a suit or even another sweater. This item is the essential piece of knitwear for the season.
This season, designers have decided to bring back old and almost forgotten pieces of the man’s wardrobe, like the trench-coat or the roll-neck sweater, and proposed something new with them. Also, suits and trousers with bright and boisterous colors are proposed, which are the most difficult to wear this season.

Little Fernand

I am going to talk to you about this amazing hot dog place next to the Grand Boulevard; it’s called little Fernand.

There you eat hotdogs that have been “frenchized” what I mean by that is that they are made with French and American culture.

They are called: Meuh, Rrrr, Bzzz, Bêêêê (like animal noises)

They are made with the same tasting bread as in New York, but with real meat sausages and great ingredients such as spicy or sour mustard, onions, garlic, and French cheese.

The place is small but the staff is great they are really polite and they take good care of you, they help you choose your food and tell you what the best hot dog is for your taste.

Now let’s talk about prices… some people can say that 11 euros for a Hot dog and a drink is a bit expansive but if you taste it, you buy it! It’s just irresistible.

You should go there and have a look, it’s a small shop just as in old times, and the packaging is original and very creative. This shop makes you travel threw a thousand of new cultures.

This website sums up all of the great places to eat, to drink in bars, to party. It also talks to you about lifestyles you can adopt, and about great restaurants affordable and original.

I use this website all the time when I am with friends, it allows me to do a lot of things for a “student” price.

It also tells you where the best expositions are at the: Grand Palais, Petit Palais, at Musée d’Orsay …

The main point of this website is to let people know that there is things original and for a low cost to do in Paris but also to make those little place live! Everyone always goes to big places well known and those little places don’t get a chance to live. The people that take the risk to open places with special products and things that people don’t know need to be able to succeed and to live from their benefits.
